NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Carroll University women's tennis team claimed four straight-set victories in the singles flight as it defeated Wartburg College 5-4 in a hard-fought non-conference dual meet at the Princeton Club on Saturday.
It was the third home-court victory of the season for Carroll, which snapped a four-match losing streak to improve to 7-10 overall.
Maya Gaedtke won at No. 2 singles, defeating Wartburg's Reese Williams in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to help power the Pioneers.
Madison Ostrander at No. 4 (6-2, 6-4),
Kaitlin Brandl at No. 5 (7-6, 6-3) and
Makayla Counsell at No. 6 (6-2, 6-1) each followed with a straight-set victory.
Carroll's other point came as the No. 1 doubles tandem of Gaedtke and
Katherine Trifilio outlasted Wartburg's Tori Johnson and Bailey Sinnwell (8-7).
The Pioneers are scheduled to travel to Edgewood College for a non-conference dual Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m.
