Box Score MADISON, Wis. - The Carroll University women's tennis team lost to Edgewood College 5-4 in a hard-fought non-conference dual meet Saturday morning.
It was the fourth road loss of the season for Carroll, which came into the contest riding the momentum of a non-league victory over Wartburg College (5-4) on March 23 but dropped to 7-11 overall.
Makayla Counsell won a gritty three-set match at No. 5 singles for Carroll, defeating Edgewood's Maddy Coopmans 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7).
Aalaiya Jacklin followed with a three-set victory at No. 6 singles, battling back from a one-set deficit to outlast Christina Ekkela 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7).
Jacklin combined with Natasha Pupovac for a victory at No. 2 doubles (8-6). The Pioneers' other point came from the No. 3 tandem of
Madison Ostrander and
Gracie Niebler (8-4).
Carroll is scheduled to host Wisconsin Lutheran College in a non-conference dual at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
