COLLEGEVILLE, MN - Carroll Men's Soccer made it out of the season opening road series in Minnesota unscathed, as they defeated St. John's (MN) 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The two teams were evenly matched, with both squads having eight shots on goal in the match. The John's held the slight edge in shot attempts, having 19 shots to Carroll's 15 attempts. Carroll scored off a corner kick in the 39th minute to take a lead into halftime, which held until the final buzzer. Marti Solanelles led the Pioneers with four shots, and Solanelles and Josh Gonzaga led the way with two shots on goal apiece.

Jason Brunger played all 90 minutes at Goal Keeper for the Pioneers, allowing no goals and securing eight saves. Evan Siefken also played the entire game between the pipes for Saint John's(0-2), registering eight saves. 
 
Carroll travels to Chicago to take on the Scarlet Hawks of IIT next on Wednesday, September 4. Game action begins at 7pm.
