Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pioneers Suffer First Loss of 2024

CHICAGO, Ill. - Carroll's men's soccer team entered Wednesday's game at Illinois Tech clinging to their best start to a season this century (2-0), but their early winning streak would come to an end with a 2-1 loss to the Scarlet Hawks. Carroll out-shot Illinois Tech by a 13-5 margin, with all three of the game's goals coming after halftime.

After Carroll (2-1-0) broke a scoreless tie in the 58th minute, Illinois Tech (1-0-0) knotted things up at one just seven minutes later on a Christian Garcia goal via Penalty Kick. The Scarlet Hawks would score the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute when Adam Lazarowicz scored on an assist from Paul Balea.

Jason Brunger played all 90 minutes at Goal Keeper for the Pios, while Illinois Tech's Colin Thomas did the same, recording four saves.

The Pioneers will look to rebound on September 11 when they'll play their home opener against Marian (Wis.). That game will begin at 7 p.m. at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
