WAUKESHA, WI – Carroll Men's Soccer opened the gates of Schneider Stadium for the 2024-25 athletic year in an emphatic way on Wednesday night, defeating Marian University (WI) (1-2-2) by a score of 5-0. Five goals is the most in a game since September 20, 2023, where Carroll defeated Beloit College by a score of 6-0. Carroll limited Marian to only one shot in the entire game, while taking 20 shots themselves. 

Josh Gonzaga started the onslaught, scoring in the 13th minute off an assist from Matthew Meke. Meke got in on the action in the second half with a goal in the 70th minute, assisted by Marti Solanelles. The goal was Gonzaga's second of the season and 21st of his career. David Serra also scored his second goal of the season with a strike in the 20th minute off the foot of Gonzaga.  

In the second half, Carroll (3-1-0) scored three goals, including two late from Solanelles in the 75th minute and Manel Rastrollo in the 81st minute to seal the game further. 

Jason Brunger earned the start and played 81 minutes in the net for the Pios, recording no stats thanks to the stout defense of Carroll. Uriel Garcia played the final nine minutes, also registering no statistics between the pipes. 

Carroll returns to action on Wednesday, September 18, when they host the Foresters of Lake Forest College at 7 p.m..
