Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pioneers Battle Foresters to a Draw

The Carroll Men's Soccer team battled Lake Forest College at home on Wednesday night, fighting the Foresters to a 2-2 draw in a battle under the lights. The teams were evenly matched on all fronts, with Carroll (3-1-2) taking eight shots to Lake Forest's (1-5-1) seven, and the Foresters holding the one shot on goal advantage over Carroll, five to four.

In what looked to be a runaway game for Lake Forest early, the Foresters came out in attack mode, scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes of play. Carroll made it interesting just ten minutes later in the first half, as Marti Solanelles sent a left-footed dribbler over the goalie's head into the back of the net for his third goal of the season. The 2-1 score held through the first half.

The Pios knotted the game up early on in the second half, with a goal by Josh Gonzaga off the foot of Rapheal Rinke in the 52nd minute. The goal was Gonzaga's third of the season Both teams got a couple of good looks at the net, with the goalies holding true on both ends. As the final buzzer sounded, the score remained 2-2 and the nonconference match ended with a draw.

Jason Brunger played all 90 minutes in the cage for the Pioneers, allowing two goals and making three saves, including one diving save late to keep the score tied. For the Foresters, Andrew Swacha played a complete game, allowing two goals and making two saves.
