Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Carroll Hands UW-Platteville First Blemish of the Season

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - UW-Platteville entered Wednesday night's game against Carroll on a seven-game winning streak to start the season, as they had yet to suffer a loss or a tie in the new year. They couldn't leave Wednesday's game unscathed however, with the game ending tied at two. UW-Platteville held a narrow edge in shots (17-15), but Carroll's eight shots on goal were more than UW-Platteville's three SOG.

Carroll (1-3-2) wasted no time getting on the board, as Grace Tumilty broke a scoreless tie in the third minute thanks to an assist from Ally Scoma. Less than three minutes later, Mari Sagstad doubled that lead with her team-leading fifth goal of the season on a Penalty Kick to give Carroll a two-goal advantage just five and a half minutes into the contest.

That's where the score would stay until the second half, which saw UW-Platteville (7-0-1) cut the lead in half in the 55th minute on Arianna Lombardi's sixth goal of the year. Less than two minutes away from victory, Carroll allowed UW-Platteville to tie the score on Alyssa Jarock's first goal of the season with one minute and 51 seconds remaining.

Carroll Goal Keeper Caitlin Fitzsimons played all 90 minutes, recording one save on the night. Her counterpar, UW-Platteville's Madison Way also played the entire game, making six saves.

Carroll will continue their tough stretch of games to start the season, as they'll travel to 16th-ranked Loras College on Saturday. That game will e played at 5:30 p.m. in Dubuque, Iowa, and will mark Carroll's seventh consecutive road or neutral game to start the season. They will finally play their home opener the following game, on Tuesday.
