Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Two Goal Night From Solanelles Lifts Carroll Past Dubuque

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll University men's soccer team defeated University of Dubuque on Tuesday night, winning the nonconference matchup 2-0. Sophomore Marti Solanelles scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season to propel the Pioneers to victory. Carroll (4-1-3) took 11 shots to Dubuque's (3-4-1) 13.

Carroll came out guns ablazing, with Solanelles making the first dent on the scoreboard in the third minute of the game. The two teams settled in and played strong defense for the next 80 minutes. Both teams got decent looks at the net, but both goalies made crucial saves as neither team gave an inch. Finally, with just over two minutes remaining, Solanelles got a free kick goal for his sixth of the season to secure the victory.

Jason Brunger played all 90 minutes in the net for Carroll, allowing zero goals and making two saves. For Dubuque, Matt Marchiori played a complete game, making two saves and allowing two goals.

Carroll returns to action in their CCIW-opener as they host North Central under the lights at Schneider Stadium at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 28.
