WAUKESHA, Wis. - In the nightcap of a tripleheader at Schneider Stadium, Carroll men's soccer held their ground against CCIW foe North Central in the conference-opener. The two teams fought tough and didn't give an inch as North Central (3-2-4) outshot the Pioneers 9-7 and held a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Carroll (4-1-4) was led by Marti Solanelles on the attack who had three shot attempts. Matthew Meke and David Serra both contributed one shot on goal, but neither were able to find the back of the net.
Jason Brunger played all 90 minutes in the cage for the Pios, allowing zero goals and tallying six saves, defending his third shutout of the season. For North Central, Lucas Visser started and played all 90 minutes, allowing zero goals and registering two saves.
Carroll returns to the action in the final game of a three-game home stand on Wednesday, October 2 where they host in-state CCIW rival Carthage College in another doubleheader nightcap with Carroll women's soccer. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
