INDIANOLA, Iowa - Carroll battled Simpson College Tuesday night in a touch interconference matchup. After 90 minutes of action, the two teams remained tied, as the game ended right where it began - tied at 0. Simpson held a shot advantage of 9-4, including 5-1 in the first half.
Each team's Goal Keeper played a vital role in the tie, with each playing all 90 minutes between the pipes. Meredith Downs played the entire game for the Storm (2-0-1), recording four saves. Her counterpart, Carroll's
Caitlin Fitzsimons recorded her 17th career shutout, and second of the young season, while making two saves. All four of Carroll's shots were on goal, while just two of Simpson's nine shots were on goal.
The Pioneers (1-1-1) will now continue their grueling stretch of seven consecutive road or neutral games to start the season, as they'll travel to Chicago on Thursday to take on Illinois Tech at 7 p.m.
