Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pioneers Outmatched by Scarlet Hawks

CHICAGO, IL - Carroll women's soccer was defeated on the road Thursday evening, dropping a non-conference matchup to Illinois Tech (1-1) by a score of 6-0. Carroll (1-2-1) was outshot 18-4 in the match. Mari Sagstad and Ally Scoma combined for the two lone shots on goal for the Pios. Sagstad's attempt came in the 52nd minute, the first shot for the Pios in the contest. Scoma's shot on goal came in the 80th minute, the last shot the Pioneers would get off in the match. 

Illinois Tech started the scoring in the 20th minute, with Allison Murray sending one to the back of the net. The Scarlet Hawks added two more goals in the 29th and 44th minute, respectively to head into half with a 3-0 lead. IIT tacked on three more insurance goals in the half, leading to a doubled score and Carroll leaving Chicago with a 6-0 defeat. 

Caitlin Fitzimmons played 77 minutes between the pipes for the Pioneers, registering four saves and allowing six goals. Annalise Zygowicz played the final 13 minutes, recording no stats. For IIT Hailey Flannagan got the start at goalie, playing 58 minutes and making one save. Sarah Thomas and Katia Blatnik split the remaining minutes, with Blatnik recording a save as well. 

Carroll returns to action on Sunday, September 8, where they travel to take on UW-Stevens Point at noon.
