DE PERE, WI – Carroll volleyball concluded the St. Norbert College Chick-Fil-A Invitational Saturday afternoon, ending the weekend 4-0 by defeating UW-Stout in four sets and host St. Norbert College in straight sets. Carroll (8-2) is off to the best 10-match start on record, spanning the entire 21st century.
MATCH 1
UW-Stout (3-3) held the slight advantage in points in the match. Carroll ousted the Blue Devils by scores of 25-22, 25-16, 17-25, 25-21. Freshman Bronwyn Rowse led the team with 14 kills, as the Pios had 43 team kills and a .116 kill percentage. Peyton Depies recorded 21 assists and two service aces. The Pioneers were led by Samantha Miserendino in service aces with three.
Defensively, Maggie McGough had 23 digs to pace the navy and orange, while Kylie Wittnebel had one solo block and four assists in the match.
MATCH 2
Carroll concluded the weekend with a sweep of St. Norbert by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-18. The Pioneers held the advantage in nearly every statistical category in the match, including a 55-39 edge in points over St. Norbert (4-5). Rowse had 18 more kills in the second match, leading the Pios on the attack. Rowse's 18.5 points is a new high in her young career. Ashley Miller recorded two service aces and Depies led in assists for the third consecutive match with 18.
On the defensive side of the net, six players recorded a block assist, with Wittnebel stuffing two to lead Carroll. Depies dug 20 balls, while McGough and Taylor Raley contributed 19 and 18 more, respectively.
The 2024 St. Norbert College Chick-Fil-A Invitational announced the all-tournament team at the conclusion of all matches, with Bronwyn Rowse being named to the all-tournament team and Maggie McGough being awarded the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Carroll returns to action on Wednesday, September 11, as they open the doors of Van Male Fieldhouse for the first time of the 2024 campaign. Carroll will host Wisconsin Lutheran College at 6pm.
