FINAL RESULTS
WHITEWATER, Wis. - Carroll's men's and women's track & field teams were back in action Saturday, competing in the Karl Schlender Invite, hosted by UW-Whitewater. The Pio women finished with 39 team points, finishing fifth out of eight teams, while the Pio men finished in eighth place with six points. Both teams combined to set 10 PRs during the meet.
The Pioneers' meet was highlighted by the women's shot put competition, where Senior
Maria Falk won the event with an indoor PR toss of 46-00.75. Defending North Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year Vanessa Uitenbroeck wasn't far behind, finishing third in the event with a distance of 45-03.50. Those two student-athletes now rank third and fifth in all of Division-III in that event this season.
Kaitlyn Brucci also PR'd in that event with a throw of 38-00, which was good for fifth in the event. Uitenbroeck added a sixth-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 49-03.50.
Rebekah Buboltz also won an event for the Pios, finishing first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.92. Carroll had four of the top five times in that event, as Anika Tollerud was third (2:40.05) and
Brooke Davies and
Kayla Hirschmann finished fourth and fifth, resepctively, with times of 2:41.02 and 2:43.33. Other point scorers for the Pioneer women were
Tirzah Losos (60m Hurdles),
Rianna Schultz (400m),
Lucy Beuthin (800m), Kegan Knue (3000m),
Clare Whitney (High Jump),
Ashley Wojciechowski (Long Jump), and
Katelyn Duber (Triple Jump).
.On the men's side, Carroll's performance was highlighted by a pair of sixth-place finishes.
Brady Reusser finished sixth in the shot put with a distance of 45-08.50, while
Ethan Zilisch earned sixth-place finish in the long jump (21-04.75).
Carroll will be in action again next weekend when they'll travel to UW-Parkside. That meet will take place on Saturday in Kenosha, Wis.
