WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University football delivered a dominant first half and leaned on its defense late to secure a 24-10 CCIWvictory over North Park on Saturday at Schneider Stadium. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in CCIW play, while North Park falls to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Carroll wasted no time taking control, scoring three touchdowns before halftime to build a 21-3 lead. Quarterback Charlie King connected with Reed Breckheimer for a 15-yard score midway through the first quarter, then found Carson Crouch on a 49-yard strike to push the margin to 14-3. Breckheimer added a five-yard rushing touchdown late in the half to cap a four-play, 44-yard drive. North Park's lone first-half points came on a 29-yard field goal by Drayden Wilcox.
The Pioneers dominated early possession, holding the ball for more than 14 minutes in the opening quarter and outgaining North Park 169-90 in first-half yardage. Carroll's defense forced four turnovers on the day, including interceptions by Amarrion Bridges, Luke Brosig, and Evan Riemenschneider, while recording four sacks and eight tackles for loss. After halftime, Carroll extended its lead to 24-3 on a 50-yard field goal by Matthew Swink late in the third quarter. North Park scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Justen Green to Micah Catron with 2:14 remaining, but the Pioneers closed out the win.
King finished 17-of-26 for 214 yards and two touchdowns. Breckheimer contributed six catches for 54 yards and a score, plus a rushing touchdown, while Crouch added four receptions for 71 yards and the long touchdown. Carroll totaled 238 yards of offense compared to North Park's 280, but the Pioneers capitalized on turnovers and red-zone chances to earn their second straight win.
This was a very solid win in front of a large Homecoming crowd, and Carroll will look to keep momentum going when it travels to Illinois Wesleyan next Saturday for another CCIW matchup at 1pm.
