DECATUR, Ill. – Carroll University women's soccer picked up a crucial College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Millikin 2-0 at Frank M. Lindsay Field. The win improves Carroll to 5-3-4 overall and 2-2-1 in CCIW play, while Millikin falls to 3-7-3 (0-2-1 CCIW).
After a scoreless first half, Carroll broke through in the 52nd minute when a Millikin own goal gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. The insurance tally came in the 78th minute as Brielle Ingalsbee netted her second goal of the season, assisted by Maura Jordan, sealing the victory.
Carroll controlled possession (60%) and outshot Millikin 14-11, including an 8-8 tie in shots on target. The Pioneers also earned a 5-4 edge in corner kicks and matched Millikin with nine fouls apiece. Defensively, Nevaeh Darby was stellar in goal, recording seven saves en route to her third shutout of the season.
Key Performers
Millikin's defense held strong early, but Carroll's depth and attacking pressure proved decisive in the second half. The Big Blue managed 11 shots, led by Izzy Jones and Payton Dominguez, but couldn't solve Darby in net.
Carroll returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 15, traveling to UW-Oshkosh for a non-conference matchup before resuming CCIW play against North Park on Oct. 18 at Schneider Stadium.
