Carroll Falls To UW-Whitewater in Final Regular Season Match

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University men's soccer wrapped up regular season play with a 3-0 loss to UW-Whitewater on Tuesday night at Schneider Stadium. With their position in the upcoming CCIW Tournament already secured, the Pioneers rested several starters in preparation for postseason play.

The Warhawks, ranked among the region's top teams, struck first in the 20th minute on a penalty kick by Luka Breslin. Breslin added a second goal early in the second half, and Nil Calvo capped the scoring in the 77th minute with an unassisted strike.

Carroll goalkeeper Jason Brunger recorded four saves in the match, facing a barrage of 17 total shots from UW-Whitewater. The Pioneers managed five shots of their own, including a second-half effort from Max Pusic that was blocked inside the box.

Despite the scoreline, Carroll's defensive unit, anchored by Nate Preissig, Jackson Raby, and William Harris, held firm under pressure and gained valuable minutes for depth players ahead of the postseason. The Pioneers were outshot 17-5 and trailed 7-2 in corner kicks, but matched the Warhawks in possession at 50% in a physical contest that saw 23 combined fouls and one yellow card issued.

Carroll enters the CCIW Tournament this weekend, with matchups and times to be announced. The Pioneers will play on Saturday, November 1st, with a road matchup coming. Stay tuned for full coverage as the Pioneers begin their postseason journey.
