OSHKOSH, Wis. – Carroll University women's volleyball faced a tough challenge on the road Wednesday night, falling 3-0 to nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh at Kolf Sports Center. The Titans, ranked No. 20 in the latest poll, improved to 20-2 overall with the sweep (25-15, 25-22, 25-15), while Carroll dropped to 10-9 on the season.
The Pioneers battled throughout the match, highlighted by a competitive second set where they pushed Oshkosh to the wire before falling 25-22. Carroll finished with 30 kills and a .030 hitting percentage, while the Titans posted 53 kills and hit .268.
Audrey Rosenbaum led Carroll's attack with 11 kills on 29 attempts, adding five digs and a block assist. Bronwyn Rowse followed with 12.5 points, recording 12 kills and contributing defensively with five digs and two block assists. Payton Depies chipped in with 19 assists and a team-high 27 digs, anchoring the back row and setting the offense.
Carroll's best offensive stretch came in the second set, where they hit .118 and tallied nine kills. The Pioneers also recorded five service aces and five total blocks in the match, with Kylie Wittnebel and Rowse combining for key stops at the net.
UW-Oshkosh showcased its depth and efficiency, hitting .448 in the opening set and closing the match with a .310 clip in the third. Samantha Perlberg paced the Titans with 10 kills, while Grace Juergens added nine.
Despite the loss, Carroll showed resilience against one of the top teams in Division III, particularly in the second set where they erased an early deficit and traded points late before Oshkosh pulled away.
The Pioneers return to play this weekend as they compete in the UW-Whitewater Invite as they take on Lawrence University on Friday, followed by #4 UW-Whitewater and Hardin-Simmons on Saturday.
