LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Carroll University swimming and diving competed in a dual meet at Lake Forest College on Saturday, with the Pioneers earning several strong individual finishes despite falling in the team standings. Lake Forest claimed the women's meet 178-60 and the men's meet 157-42.
On the women's side, Erin Fixen led the way with a runner-up finish in the 800-meter freestyle (10:30.16) and added second in the 100-meter butterfly (1:15.99). Natalie Oldenburg highlighted the backstroke group, touching second in the 100 back at 1:14.53, while Kelly Gordon placed fourth in the 200 IM (2:48.24) and fifth in the 100 fly (1:16.48). Carigan Tabor contributed a fourth-place finish in the 400 free (5:12.46), and Skyler Sanderson was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:32.70). In diving, Alexandria Ostopowicz scored 108.08 points for second on the 1-meter board, with Nevaeh Clayton close behind in third (71.70). The women's 400 free relay of Cenia Stefonek, Kendal Richard, Fixen, and Oldenburg took second in 4:34.35.
For the men, Gavin Buechel paced Carroll with second in the 200 IM (2:30.13) and fourth in the 400 free (4:51.71). Jonah Lotegeluaki added a third-place finish in the 100 free (57.10), while Paden Moore was fourth in the 100 fly (1:09.35) and second in the 200 free relay leg. Ben Miles earned third in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.47). The Pioneers also posted a strong showing in the 400 free relay, as Buechel, Lotegeluaki, Jacob Rossi, and Eli Griggs LeRoux combined for second in 3:56.83.
Carroll returns both teams to action on December 4-6th as they take part in the Carthage Classic.
