Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Carroll Pulls Past Ripon Behind Gricius’ Career Night

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University women's basketball continued its early-season surge with an impressive 86-74 win over Ripon College on Sunday afternoon at Van Male Fieldhouse. The victory marks the Pioneers' third straight and improves their record to 5-2 overall, while Ripon falls to 5-2.

Carroll showcased one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season, shooting 60.8% from the field and scoring 44 points in the paint. The Pioneers also capitalized on transition opportunities, adding 14 fast-break points and converting 21 Ripon turnovers into 23 points. The team's ball movement was on full display with 19 assists, helping four players reach double figures.

Senior forward Natalie Gricius delivered a career-high 39 points, going 15-of-18 from the floor and adding 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Gricius was dominant in the second half, scoring 16 points in the final two quarters to help Carroll pull away. Emilie Wizner contributed 25 points, including three three-pointers and an 8-for-11 mark at the free-throw line, while Julia Lokker added 16 points and provided key defensive energy.

The game was tightly contested through the first half, with Carroll holding a slim 41-40 lead at the break. The Pioneers found separation in the third quarter, outscoring Ripon 20-15, and sealed the win with a 25-point fourth period. Carroll's defensive pressure and ability to finish at the rim proved decisive down the stretch.

Ripon was led by Laney Havlovitz with 21 points, while Halle Van Horn and Karsyn Nelson combined for 18. The Red Hawks dominated second-chance scoring with 21 points off offensive rebounds, but Carroll's shooting efficiency and transition game ultimately carried the day.

Carroll's next matchup comes in Wheaton this Wednesday as they travel to take on the Thunder in what will be both teams' first conference game of the year. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
