DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — #14 Carroll dropped a 76–66 decision to #8 Washington and Lee on Sunday at the Ocean Center, closing the trip with a back-and-forth game that turned late in the second half. The Pioneers led 18–16 after the first quarter and went to the break tied at 33–33, but the Generals used a 20–15 third and a 23–18 fourth, including a 12-0 surge, to pull away down the stretch.
Julia Lokker paced Carroll with 23 points on 9-for-13 shooting and 4-of-6 from three. Emilie Wizner added 16 points, also hitting 4-of-6 from deep, and Natalie Gricius posted 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Katie Barger handed out four assists while Carroll's bench contributed 29 points.
Carroll finished 40.0% from the field (26-for-65) and 47.6% from beyond the arc (10-for-21), winning the fast-break column 8–2 and staying even at 33–33 after two quarters. Washington and Lee, however, controlled the interior with a 44–32 advantage in points in the paint and converted at the line, making 12-of-13 free throws to Carroll's 4-of-9. The Generals also held a 15–11 edge in second-chance points and a 17–12 margin in points off turnovers.
Washington and Lee was led by Mary Schleusner's 24 points and 19 rebounds, while Sarah Zimmerman added 19. The Generals improved to 10–0; Carroll moved to 8–3 following the neutral-site matchup.
Carroll closes the Daytona Shootout at 1-1, with their next game coming after the holidays on January 3rd as they travel to take on #13 Illinois Wesleyan at 2pm.
