Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pioneers Roll Past Edgewood

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll men's basketball returned to Van Male Fieldhouse and delivered a statement win, rolling past Edgewood 95-68.

Carroll (6-5) wasted no time seizing control, shooting a blistering 60.6 percent (20-33) in the first half to build a 51-33 lead at the break. The Pioneers' offense was firing on all cylinders, with senior forward Lamar Smith leading the way. Smith finished with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting, adding nine rebounds and two assists. Evan Bland provided a spark with 18 points (8-11 FG), while Michael McNabb contributed 13 points, four assists, and four steals. Carroll's balanced attack saw five players reach double figures, and the team racked up 56 points in the paint and 13 fast-break points.

Edgewood (1-9) kept pace early behind the hot hand of Will Gretzinger, who knocked down five threes en route to a team-high 17 points. Logan Steffensmeier added 16 points and six rebounds, but the Eagles struggled to match Carroll's efficiency, shooting just 37.7 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from deep. Edgewood managed 18 second-chance points and 11 made threes, but Carroll's defense forced 18 turnovers and limited the Eagles' transition opportunities.

The Pioneers' largest lead reached 32 points late in the second half, as the hosts continued to push the tempo and share the ball (19 assists). Carroll's defensive pressure and ability to convert turnovers into points proved decisive.

With the win, Carroll improves to 6-5 and extends its home win streak. The Pioneers will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup at #18 Illinois Wesleyan as they continue to build chemistry and depth heading into conference play by looking to upset a nationally ranked team on Saturday with tip scheduled for 4:15 following the conclusion of the Women's game.
