WAUKESHA, Wis. – Carroll University has announced the hiring of
Tom Torres as Head Coach of the Pioneers' women's soccer program. Torres brings more than 30 years of coaching experience across collegiate, professional, and youth levels, including the past two seasons as an assistant for Carroll's men's and women's teams.
Torres' extensive background includes leadership roles with D.C. United (MLS), the Washington Spirit (NWSL), and NOVA FC (USL), where he oversaw player development, scouting, and program management. He also directed U.S. Soccer Development Academy initiatives and served as Associate General Manager for the Washington Spirit, managing contracts, salary cap, and draft operations. Most recently, Torres has coached elite youth programs with SC Wave MLS Next and FC Wisconsin ECNL.
"It's an honor to be named the Head Coach of the Women's Soccer Team," Torres said. "I am extremely grateful to Mike Schulist, Mark Krzykowski, and the entire search committee for trusting me to lead this program into the future. From the moment I stepped foot on campus, I've grown fond of every aspect of this place, and I am truly humbled to move into this role. I'm excited to bring a fresh outlook to the program and am committed to building an environment that strives for excellence on the field, in the classroom, and throughout the community—one that makes every former player proud to have worn the Carroll jersey."
Athletic Director Mike Schulist added:
"After an extensive search, I am thrilled to welcome Coach Torres to the Pioneer family. Coach Torres is a highly respected coach not only regionally but nationally and know he will elevate our women's soccer program to be respected at the national stage. I look forward to working alongside Coach Torres to provide our current and future Pioneers the best four-year experience possible."
Torres holds a U.S. Soccer "A" License, Elite Formation Coaching License through the French Football Federation, and UEFA "B" License. He played collegiately at Radford University and Virginia Wesleyan University.
Carroll finished the 2025 season with a 5-6-5 record, and Torres will officially begin his head coaching duties on January 2, 2026, as preparations for the upcoming campaign get underway. He can be reached at ttorres@carrollu.edu.
