FINAL RESULTS
KENOSHA, Wis - Carroll's men's and women's track & field returned to action Saturday, participating in the Lake Michigan Open hosted by UW-Parkside. The Pio women finished with 90 team points, finishing second out of eight teams, while the Pio men finished in third place with 48 points. Both teams combined to set three PRs during the meet.
The Pioneers' meet was highlighted by the women's field performances, where defending North Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year Vanessa Uitenbroeck won the shut put with a throw of 45-05, and took second in the weight throw with a toss of 49-01.Â
Brady Reusser continued his successful season by taking first place in both the men's shot put and weight throw, with throws of 14.02m and 14.39m, respectively.
Grace Kelly took third in the weight throw, scoring six points for the Pios with a throw of 47-10. Other field highlights included
Clare Whitney, who placed third in the high jump and second in the triple jump,
Bella Backus and
Madeline Simpson (Pole Vault), and
Katelyn Duber and
Savannah Krzykowski (Long Jump).
Rebekah Buboltz also won an event for the Pios, finishing first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.33. Buboltz also took fourth-place in the 400 meter race, finishing with a lifetime-PR of 1.02.10. Other top-six finishers for the Pioneer women were
Rianna Schultz (200m), Poala Orozco (3000m), and
Tirzah Losos (55m Hurdles).
On the men's side, Carroll's performance was highlighted by a few top-six finishes.
Ethan Weber highlighted the men's distance competition with a second-place finish in the 800 meters, running a PR-time of 2:00.59.
Jared Kniola also had a strong showing in the men's 55m hurdles. Kniola placed sixth and PR'd with a time of 8.46 seconds. In relay action, Carroll's 4x400 team of
Cameron Lotspeich,
Julian Bica Harrison,
Sawyer Caves, and Weber earned the Pios six points with a fifth-place finish in 3:39.02.
Sutton Zimmerman took fourth place in the shot put with a throw of 12.15m.Â
Carroll will be in action again next weekend when they'll travel to participate in the Tadd Metzger Invitational, hosted by Carthage College. That meet will be a two-day weekend event Kenosha, Wis.
