FINAL RESULTS
KENOSHA, Wis. - Carroll's women's and men's track & field teams finished third and sixth, respectively, at the annual Tadd Metzger Invitational, hosted by Carthage College, over the weekend. The two teams finished with 10 first-place finishes combined, including three event wins.
Carroll's women's team finished with 111.16 points, which was 41 shy of second-place. The Pioneers' weekend was highlighted by two first-place finishes, as
Maria Falk won the shot put with a mark of 13.95m (45-09.25) and
Keagan Knue placed first in the 5000 meters (19:40.95).
Kayla Hirschmann added a second-place finish in the 1000 meters (3:30.78), while freshmen
Clare Whitney and
Bella Backus added second-place finishes in the high jump (1.54m/5-00.5) and pole vault (2.85m/9-04.25), respectively. Sophomore Alexandra Sahlin Cloutier tied Backus in the pole vault with the exact same mark. Taking home a third-place finish for the Pioneers was
Lucy Beuthin in the 600 meters with a time of 1:55.96.
On the men's side, Carroll finished with 38 team points, which was just 5.5 shy of the fifth-place total. Their top finish came in the 3000 meters, where Junior
Austin Sanderfoot ran a time of 8:45.00, which was two and a half seconds ahead of the next-fastest runner. Ethan Wweber added a second-place finish with a 600 meters time of 1:25.19, which was just 0.20 seconds shy of the top time.
Jared Kniola also finished second in the 55m Hurdles with a time of 8.46, which was 0.47 seconds off the pace of the winning time.
The Pioneers will be in action again next weekend when they'll travel to Ripon College for the Dick Hendricks Invite. That meet will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. from Willmore Center in Ripon, Wis.
