HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Pioneer women's tennis team continued their winning ways on Spring Break Tuesday morning, winning 6-1 against Salve Regina University.
In doubles play, the Pios were able to clinch the doubles point after a dominating 6-1 performance by
Natasa Pupovac and Kate Trifilio at the top flight. The nubmer two team of
Makayla Counsell and
Gracie Niebler were able to clinch the point after a battle to a 7-6, 8-6 victory in a thrilling tiebreak win.
Carroll (8-6) continued to shine in singles action, with another domination by
Natasa Pupovac at the top flight, which saw her win 6-1, 6-0. Carroll showed resiliency by winning three out of four tiebreakers in singles play.
Gracie Niebler won 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 in three singles, while
Erin Horzewski was victorious 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 at the fifth flight. Finally,
Laurel Nelson completed the match with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 victory at the number six position.
Carroll will be back in action Wednesday in Hilton Head, S.C. at 9:30 a.m. when they'll battle Baldwin Wallace in their final match of Spring Break.
