BARTOW, Fla. - Carroll's softball team completed their Spring Breat trip Friday morning with a pair of losses, falling to Curry College 9-0 and to Wittenberg University, 8-4.
GAME ONE vs. Curry
The day's first game saw Carroll (7-5) manage just one hit, coming on an
MK Dusza single.
Curry (4-5) broke a scoreless tie in the third inning with five runs, before adding another in both the fourth and fifth, and ending the game with two more in the sixth. Curry finished with 11 hits, while receiving a gem from pitcher Jillian Rogers (3-0) who struck out eight in her compete game one-hitter.
GAME TWO vs. Wittenberg
Wittenberg (7-2) jumped on the scoreboard early in the Pioneers' second game of the day and final game of their spring trip, scoring three times in the bottom of the first and four more times in the second.
The Pios tried to climb back into the game with a three-run third, which was highlighted by RBI singles from
Gianna Buske,
MK Dusza, and
Avery Sorochan.
Wittenberg added another run in the bottom of the third, but Carroll would get that back in the top of the fifth when
Val Osthoff hit a sac fly, allowing
Jenna Andler to score from third base.
Carroll finished the game with seven hits, led by two apiece from Dusza and Sorochan. Andler led the team with two runs scored.
The Pios will now return home to Wisconsin. They will be in action again on March 24 for their home opener against the College of Lake County. That doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m. from Kilgour Field in Waukesha, Wis.
