WAUKESHA, Wis. – Despite a slow start in doubles play Saturday afternoon, Carroll's women's tennis team survived to defeat Edgewood College by a score of 4-3.
In doubles play, Carroll struggled, only winning at the number three doubles position where
Aalaiya Jacklin and
Laurel Nelson teamed up to defeat Edgewood's duo by a score of 6-3. Despite that victory, Carroll lost the doubles point.
The Pioneers looked to turn it around in singles play.
Emily Stern won 6-2, 6-1 in the six singles position on her senior day, while
Erin Horzewski won 6-1, 6-2 at number five singles. The match came down to the the top flight, where
Natasa Pupovac was taking on Edgewood's Evelyn Taylor. Pupovac clinched the match winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
The Pioneers will now get ready for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament, which begins on April 24.
