STERLING, Ill. - Carroll's men's tennis season came to an end Thursday with a 4-2 loss to Wheaton (Ill.) in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships.
Carroll (11-9) started on a positive note, capturing the doubles point by winning the first two matches.
Daniel Ezcurra and
Adrian Gomez won their final match together as Pioneers with a 6-4 win over the team of Tim Steiner and Jacob Williams.
Ryan LaBelle and
Jack McCaffery also teamed up for a 6-3 victory at number three doubles.
In singles play, Carroll's only team point came at the number two flight, which saw Gomez, who was named First Team All-Conference this season, win by a score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-0. Ezcurra battled at the top flight, before ultimately falling 1-6, 6-4, 2-6.
Andrew LaBelle lost his number three match 3-6, 2-6, while McCaffery and
Ryan LaBelle fell at the number four and five positions, respectively, by scores of 1-6, 4-6 and 3-6, 1-6.
