MEQUON, Wis – Carroll's women's tennis opened their 2025 season Friday afternoon with a convincing 7-0 win at Concordia (Wis.), keeping the CU Cup with the Pioneers for another year.
In doubles play, the junior duo of
Katherine Trifilio and
Natasa Pupovac put on a clinic, winning 6-0, while the three-doubles team of
Aalaiya Jacklin and
Nawal Souki won in a thrilling 6-4 match. The two victories allowed the Pios to clinch the doubles point and move on to singles.
In singles, Pupovac finished a perfect day, winning 6-0, 6-0 at the top position. A pair of freshmen earned their first collegiate victories, with Megan Trifilo winning 6-0, 6-2 at the third flight and
Mia Franke 6-2, 6-1 at the number five position. The rest of the Pioneers also won their match-ups, leading to a 7-0 sweep of Concordia (Wis.).
The Pioneers will be in action again on Sept. 2, when they'll open their conference slate at North Central (IL). That match will begin at 3 p.m. in Naperville, Ill.
