LA CROSSE, Wis. - Carroll's women's soccer team opened their 2025 season Friday afternoon, falling at UW-Lacrosse by a score of 7-0. UW-L also out-shot the Pios by a 27-6 margin, while recording 14 corner kicks.
The Eagles (1-0) wasted no time getting on the board, as Jessica Stewart started the scoring just four minutes into the contest. Aubree Caya added a goal just three minutes later to double their lead. UW-L's Riley Veenendaal also scored just before halftime, giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead at intermission.
The second half saw La Crosse continue their scoring, as Stewart scored her second goal of the game. Amaya Thesing, Jillian Sawadski, and Grace Williams also each scored one goal for the Eagles.
Payton Brose played all 90 minutes at Goal Keeper for Carroll (0-1), recording five saves. UW-La Crosse Goal Keepers Erelyn Apel and Summer Nicolai each played 45 minutes, combining for three saves in the shutout.
Carroll will be in action again on Tuesday when they'll battle University of Dubuque at 7 p.m. from Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
