Carroll Men's Soccer Overpowers Marian in 3–1 Road Victory

FOND DU LAC, Wis - Carroll University's men's soccer team continued its strong early-season form with a 3–1 win over Marian University on September 10 at Smith Field in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The Pioneers improved to 3–2–0 on the season, showcasing clinical finishing and a dominant midfield presence throughout the match.

The scoring opened in the 21st minute when Iskander Sharipov netted his fifth goal of the season, finishing a centering pass from Sheridan Joseph. Just over a minute later, Marti Solanelles stunned the Sabres with a rare unassisted goal directly off a corner kick, curling the ball into the net to give Carroll a 2–0 lead.

Marian responded early in the second half with a well-placed header from Brayden Johnson off a free kick by Kairo Machuca, narrowing the deficit to 2–1. However, Carroll quickly regained control in the 60th minute when Solanelles struck again, this time with a long-range effort that found the right side of the net, sealing the win with his second goal of the night.

Carroll outshot Marian 25–9, including 10 shots on target. Solanelles led the attack with 6 shots and 2 goals, while Sharipov added 5 shots and a goal. Goalkeeper Uriel Garcia earned the win with a solid performance, making one save and commanding the back line.

The Pioneers also held a 4–0 advantage in corner kicks during the second half and maintained 52% possession overall. With balanced contributions and a high-energy attack, Carroll looks poised to build momentum heading into a tough conference bout against Colorado College in Colorado Springs on Saturday at 2pm.
