Carroll University Sweeps Wisconsin Lutheran in Straight Sets

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Carroll University delivered a commanding performance on September 10, 2025, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran 3-0 (29-27, 25-18, 25-21) at the Time of Grace Center. The Pioneers improved to 5-4 on the season with the win, showcasing a balanced attack and strong defensive execution.

Audrey Rosenbaum led the charge offensively, tallying 9 kills with a .308 hitting percentage, while Bronwyn Rowse and Carly Hicklin added 9 and 11 kills respectively. Hicklin was particularly efficient, hitting .323 on 31 attempts. Payton Depies orchestrated the offense with 23 assists and chipped in 5 digs and 3 blocks, demonstrating her all-around impact.

Carroll's defense was equally impressive, recording 7 total team blocks and holding Wisconsin Lutheran to a .114 hitting percentage. Rosenbaum and Rowse each contributed 4 block assists, while libero Maggie McGough anchored the back row with 11 digs and a stellar .769 reception percentage.

The opening set was a nail-biter, with 8 tie scores and 3 lead changes, but Carroll edged out a 29-27 win thanks to clutch kills from Rosenbaum and Hicklin. The Pioneers carried that momentum into the second set, dominating with a .176 hitting percentage and limiting the Warriors to just 18 points. In the third, Carroll closed out the match with timely kills and consistent side-out efficiency, finishing with a 61% side-out rate.

With a solid team effort and contributions across the board, Carroll showcased depth and resilience. The win sets a strong tone as they head into conference play as they face North Central in their first CCIW matchup next Wednesday in Naperville at 7pm, looking to build on their early-season success.
