Carroll Volleyball Grinds Out Saturday Sweep in UW-Stevens Point Triangular

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Carroll University volleyball turned in a pair of resilient performances Saturday at Berg Gym, earning back-to-back victories over UW-River Falls and Wisconsin-Stevens Point to improve to 7-5 on the season.

In the opener, Carroll overcame a second-set stumble to defeat UW-River Falls in four sets (27-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-16). The Pioneers hit .310 as a team and dominated the final two frames, outscoring the Falcons 50-32 across sets three and four. Bronwyn Rowse led the attack with 15 kills and 16.5 points, while Kylie Wittnebel added 13 kills on a .500 hitting percentage. Audrey Rosenbaum chipped in 14 kills (.323), and setter Payton Depies orchestrated the offense with 48 assists and 12 digs. Carroll also held a 66.5 to 53.0 advantage in total points and posted 8.0 team blocks.

Later in the day, Carroll returned to the court and outlasted host Stevens Point in a five-set thriller (25-18, 19-25, 25-23, 22-25, 17-15). The match featured 25 tie scores and 14 lead changes, with the Pioneers rallying from a 14-13 deficit in the decisive fifth set. Rowse again led the way with 25 kills and 26.5 points, while Hicklin added 18 kills and 18.5 points. Depies recorded 57 assists and 15 digs, and Carroll's defense came up big with 8.0 blocks, including several key stops in the final frame.

The sweep marked a strong nonconference showing for Carroll, which now turns its attention to CCIW play with momentum and depth across the lineup. They open up their home CCIW conference schedule on Wednesday as they take on Millikin at 7pm in Van Male Fieldhouse.
