WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll University earned a hard-fought 1–0 victory over St. Scholastica in a tightly contested non-conference matchup at Schneider Stadium. The Pioneers struck early and relied on disciplined defense to preserve the lead through ninety minutes.
Carroll outshot St. Scholastica 11–7, with a 6–3 edge in shots on goal. The Pioneers also earned five corner kicks and maintained composure despite committing 11 fouls and receiving two yellow cards.
The decisive moment came in the 12th minute when Iskander Sharipov capitalized on a well-executed build-up. Henry Picard initiated the play with a precise pass to Remy Manetsch, who delivered the assist to Sharipov for the game's only goal. The early strike gave Carroll the momentum and allowed them to dictate the pace for much of the first half.
Defensively, Carroll was resolute. The back line, led by Manel Rastrollo and Nathan Patzer, consistently disrupted St. Scholastica's attacking efforts. Goalkeepers Jason Brunger and Uriel Garcia split time in net, combining for three saves and a clean sheet. Garcia's second-half performance was particularly notable, including a key stop in the 73rd minute that kept the visitors off the scoreboard.
With the win, Carroll improves to 2–1–0 on the season. The Pioneers have a chance to build momentum off of this win with another non-conference matchup this Sunday, September 7th as they take on St. Olaf at 4pm at Schneider Stadium.
