WAUKESHA, Wis. — Carroll men's basketball surged past Elmhurst on Wednesday night at Van Male Fieldhouse, using a commanding second-half performance to secure a 92–61 CCIW victory. The Pioneers outscored the Bluejays 54–27 after halftime, shooting 63.6% from the field and 63.6% from three in the final 20 minutes.
Carroll (8–7, 3–3 CCIW) finished the night shooting 55.4% overall and 47.8% from deep, while scoring 50 points in the paint, 29 points off turnovers, and posting a 14–2 advantage in fast-break points.
Lamar Smith led the way with a game-high 21 points on 9–for–11 shooting along with 6 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals, turning in one of his most complete performances of the season. Michael McNabb added 16 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals, while Peyton McKenna poured in 15 points, including four made threes.
Carroll's depth played a major role as well. Dennis Estepp chipped in 12 points on a perfect 5–for–5 shooting night, and Jacob Naber contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds while anchoring the interior. Evan Bland added 7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and strong defensive pressure.
After holding a 38–34 halftime advantage, the Pioneers broke the game open with a 10–0 run early in the second half and never looked back, pushing the lead to as many as 31 in the closing minutes. Carroll forced 21 Elmhurst turnovers, converting them into consistent scoring opportunities in transition and in the paint.
With the win, Carroll returns to .500 in league play and continues to build momentum heading into the heart of the CCIW schedule, as they travel to take on Augustana this Saturday with tip scheduled for 4:15pm.
