WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University baseball team turned in an offensive showcase on Friday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader against Wisconsin–River Falls with 15–5 and 14–11 victories at home.
Game 1: Carroll 15, Wisconsin–River Falls 5
Carroll wasted no time setting the tone in the opener, scoring five runs in the first inning and four more in the second to take an early 9–1 lead.
Jimmy Williams powered the Pioneer offense, finishing with five RBI, including a three-run double in the first inning and a two-run home run in the second. Dalen Lamberson added a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Joey Appino chipped in with a home run, two hits, and three runs scored.
Carroll continued to add insurance throughout the middle innings, including solo home runs from Lamberson and late-inning production that put the game out of reach. The Pioneers totaled 12 hits and took advantage of defensive miscues to extend the lead.
On the mound, Tyler Fredrick earned the win after working five innings, allowing five runs while striking out five. The Carroll bullpen combined for three scoreless innings to close out the victory.
Game 2: Carroll 14, Wisconsin–River Falls 11
The nightcap turned into a back-and-forth contest, but Carroll's seven-run fourth inning proved decisive.
After River Falls briefly regained the lead in the top of the fourth, Carroll answered with a flurry of offense. Eddie Synek delivered the biggest swing of the inning with a bases-clearing triple, driving in three runs, while Evan Becker, Ross Olsen, and Leo Matuga also contributed RBIs during the rally.
Carroll continued to add to the lead in the later innings, including a two-run home run by Matuga in the sixth and a solo home run from Becker in the eighth. Dalen Lamberson finished the game 4-for-5, while Appino and Synek each drove in multiple runs as Carroll collected 14 hits.
Out of the bullpen, Joey Rivera provided key relief, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings to help stabilize the game as the Pioneers held off a late push.
With the sweep, Carroll showcased its offensive depth and resilience, combining timely hitting, power throughout the lineup, and strong bullpen work to secure two home victories.
