WAUKESHA, Wis. — Carroll baseball completed a doubleheader sweep of North Park on Saturday at Frame Park, earning a hard-fought 9–8 win in the opener before pulling away for an 11–1 victory in the nightcap.
Game 1 (Carroll 9, North Park 8)
Carroll held off a late North Park rally to secure a one-run win in the opening game of the day. The Pioneers struck first in the opening inning, scoring on an RBI groundout from Dalen Lamberson, and added three more runs in the third inning to build a 4–0 advantage. Evan Becker and Leo Matuga each delivered RBI singles during the frame.
North Park responded with a solo home run in the fourth and a two-run homer in the fifth to cut the deficit to one, but Carroll answered with an RBI from Eddie Synek in the fifth and another run in the seventh to extend the lead to 6–3.
The Vikings surged with a three-run eighth inning to briefly take the lead, but Carroll responded immediately with a decisive four-run bottom half. Joey Appino drove in the tying run, and Jimmy Williams followed with a two-run single to give the Pioneers a 9–6 cushion.
North Park made one final push in the ninth, scoring three runs to bring the tying run to the plate, but Carroll's bullpen was able to close out the game and preserve the win.
Williams led the offense with three hits and two RBI, while Becker and Matuga each recorded multi-hit performances. Appino scored twice and drove in a run, and Lamberson finished with two RBI.
Game 2 (Carroll 11, North Park 1)
Carroll used a dominant performance on the mound and a breakout middle-innings offensive surge to complete the sweep in the nightcap.
After three scoreless innings, the Pioneers erupted for four runs in the fourth, highlighted by RBI singles from Becker and Matuga and aggressive baserunning that created additional scoring opportunities. Carroll followed with four more runs in the fifth inning, capped by a two-run home run from Williams to extend the lead to 8–0.
North Park scored its lone run in the seventh, but Carroll responded with three more runs late to put the game away. Williams homered twice in the game and drove in four runs, while Lamberson, Becker, and Matuga each recorded multiple hits.
Tyler Fredrick delivered a dominant start, tossing eight innings while allowing just one run and striking out four to earn the win.
Carroll will look to carry the momentum into tomorrow as they look to finish off the series against North Park as they travel to Chicago to finish the series at 1pm.
