Carroll Softball Sweeps Beloit in Saturday Doubleheader

BELOIT, Wis. — Carroll softball earned a doubleheader sweep of Beloit on Saturday afternoon at Strong Stadium, picking up a pair of 7–4 victories behind timely hitting and balanced pitching.

Game 1
Carroll jumped out early in the first game, scoring twice in the first inning on RBI hits from Grace O'Connor and Jennavieve Andler. After Beloit tied the game in the fifth, the Pioneers responded with a decisive four-run sixth inning to regain control.

Madison Hoagland drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI double before Grantz reached on an error that allowed two runs to score. Aurora Lagerhausen followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 6–2. Andler added an RBI single in the seventh to cap Carroll's scoring.

O'Connor finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Andler went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Hoagland added another RBI in the second game to complete a strong day at the plate.

Makayla Wall picked up the win in the circle, throwing four strong innings before Grantz closed out the final three frames in relief.

Game 2
Carroll responded after an early deficit to take the finale, scoring in five different innings to secure the win. Madison Hoagland led the offense with a standout performance, finishing 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. Hoagland drove in Carroll's first run with an RBI double in the opening inning, later added an RBI single, and capped her day with a solo home run in the fifth.

The Pioneers broke a 3–3 tie in the third inning with a three-run rally, highlighted by Hoagland's RBI single and a run scored on an error before Makayla Grantz added an RBI single to give Carroll the lead for good. Kali Stanchina added an RBI single in the fourth, and Carroll tacked on insurance runs in the fifth and seventh.

Mya Schneider earned the win in the circle, working four innings before Madelyn Eckl and Claire Baker combined to close out the game in relief.

Carroll will continue its nonconference schedule next week as they head to Whitewater to play a doubleheader with the Warhawks on Friday.
