RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Carroll women's lacrosse saw its nine-game winning streak come to an end Friday afternoon, falling 13–7 on the road at Wisconsin–River Falls in a non-conference matchup.
The Pioneers opened the game strong, answering River Falls' early goal with back-to-back tallies from Lauren Fricke and Rebecca Hallman to take a 2–1 lead midway through the first quarter. After the Falcons responded with two goals, Elizabeth Wang converted a free-position shot late in the period to knot the game at 3–3 heading into the second.
Carroll carried momentum into the second quarter as Paige Helms and Samantha Hurd both scored to give the Pioneers a 5–3 advantage. River Falls responded with three straight goals over the final seven minutes of the half, reclaiming a 6–5 lead at the break.
The Falcons pulled away in the third quarter, scoring four times to extend the margin. Sierra Skack found the net late in the period off an assist from Wang, but River Falls continued to control possession and capitalize on free-position opportunities.
Rebecca Hallman opened the scoring for Carroll in the fourth quarter, but River Falls answered with three more goals to seal the result.
Hallman led Carroll with two goals and an assist, while Fricke, Helms, Hurd, Skack, and Wang also found the back of the net. Wang added an assist to finish with two points on the afternoon. Grace Tumilty was active defensively, recording six ground balls and five draw controls.
Devon Duym made four saves in goal for Carroll before Hannah McKenna added one save in relief.
Carroll will look to regroup as nonconference play continues next week Wednesday as the Pioneers host a very strong Chicago squad at 6pm.
