WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University men's lacrosse team struck first on Tuesday night but was unable to keep pace as North Central used a strong opening half to pull away for a 16–3 victory in conference action at Schneider Stadium.
Carroll opened the scoring early in the first quarter when Declan McMahon found the back of the net, giving the Pioneers a brief lead. North Central responded quickly, stringing together a run of goals to take control of the game and build a 13–1 halftime advantage.
The Pioneers continued to battle in the second half, with Brady Mollsen providing Carroll's offense in the fourth quarter. Mollsen scored two goals, including a man-up goal, to account for Carroll's final two tallies of the night.
Defensively, Carroll faced sustained pressure throughout the contest, with Jake Gehl recording 20 saves in goal to anchor the effort. The Pioneers also worked to generate opportunities in transition but were limited against a disciplined North Central defense.
With the result, Carroll moved to 4–11 overall and 1–3 in conference play as the Pioneers continue their CCIW schedule as it closes out this Saturday at 7pm with a trip to Kenosha to take on Carthage.
