Carroll Men’s Lacrosse Closes Season with Gritty Road Effort at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carroll University men's lacrosse team wrapped up its 2026 season Friday night, battling through all four quarters in an 11–6 road loss to Carthage at Art Keller Field.

The Firebirds jumped out to an early lead, scoring four times in the opening quarter, but Carroll responded with a man-up goal from Brady Mollsen to get on the board. Carthage carried a 5–2 advantage into halftime after a goal from Declan McMahon midway through the second quarter kept the Pioneers within striking distance.

Carthage extended its lead in the third, but Carroll continued to compete offensively. Zach Szuba finished a feed from Ethan Phillips late in the third quarter, and the Pioneers added four goals in the final period as Mollsen, Anthony Defilippis, and Brady Conwell all found the back of the net down the stretch.

Mollsen led Carroll with two goals, while McMahon, Szuba, Defilippis, and Conwell each added one. In the cage, Jake Gehl delivered a strong performance in his final appearance of the season, recording 23 saves as Carroll faced a heavy shot volume.

Carroll finished the night with 28 shots and 22 ground balls, closing the year with a hard-fought effort against a conference opponent.

The game marked the final contest of the season for the Pioneers, who completed the year with a 4–12 overall record and continued to show growth across a young roster.
