WAUKESHA, Wis. – Top-seeded Carroll used a dominant wire-to-wire performance to secure its place in the CCIW Tournament championship game, defeating Illinois Wesleyan 22–2 in the semifinal round on Tuesday evening.
The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, scoring nine goals in the opening quarter to take firm control of the contest. Carroll followed with five goals in the second and third quarters and added three more in the fourth, holding Illinois Wesleyan scoreless for nearly the first three quarters of play.
Sierra Skack led the offense with a standout performance, totaling five goals and five assists for a game-high 10 points. Elizabeth Wang added five goals, while Rebecca Hallman recorded four goals and two assists. McKenzie DeFord finished with two goals and one assist, while Elaina Phaneuf contributed a goal and two assists.
Additional scoring for the Pioneers came from Elizabeth Mueller with two goals and single goals from Paige Helms, Lauren Fricke, and Emma Kimps, as Carroll showcased its depth with goals from nine different players.
Defensively, Carroll limited Illinois Wesleyan to just five shots in the game and forced 22 turnovers, while winning the draw control battle 15–10 and holding a 40–5 advantage in shots. Grace Tumilty was active throughout the contest, helping Carroll maintain possession and defensive pressure.
Goalkeepers Devon Duym and Hannah McKenna split time in net, combining to allow just two goals. Duym earned the win with two saves in the opening half before McKenna closed out the game in the second.
With the victory, Carroll advances to the CCIW Tournament championship game on Saturday against Carthage at 1pm at Schneider Stadium, as the Pioneers continue their pursuit of a conference postseason title.
