ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Carroll University women's volleyball closed out the Bethel Invite Saturday morning, falling to tournament host Bethel University in straight sets. Carroll finished the weekend 1-2 and moves to 8-5 overall.
The opening set proved to be a battle from start to finish, featuring 15 ties and 10 lead changes. Carroll established an early 10-6 advantage, but Bethel responded to pull even at 14. From there, neither side led by more than two points for the remainder of the frame.
With the score tied at 23, back-to-back kills from Audrey Rosenbaum gave Carroll a 24-23 advantage and its first opportunity to close out the set. Bethel answered and eventually moved ahead 25-24, but Brooklyn Johnson kept the Pioneers alive with a kill to even the score. Rosenbaum later delivered another kill to tie the frame at 26 before the Royals captured the final two points to escape with a 28-26 victory. Carroll recorded 19 kills and hit .255 in the opening set. Bethel carried the momentum into the second and third set, as they used efficient .254 hitting percentage throughout sets two and three to secure the sweep.
Rosenbaum led the Pioneer attack with 11 kills while adding 10 digs and three total blocks. Lexi Proctor finished with 15 assists, eight digs and three block assists, while Ashley Miller added 11 assists and two service aces. Brooklyn Johnson helped lead Carroll at the net with four block assists.
Carroll returns home for its first CCIW match of the season, welcoming No. 6 ranked Illinois Wesleyan University to Van Male Field House.
