WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday night at Schneider Stadium, with an early goal from Ellie Pierson helping the Pioneers secure a hard-fought result. Carroll moved to 2-2-6 on the season, while the Titans finished the evening at 4-3-2.
The Pioneers controlled much of the opening half and broke through in the 11th minute when Ellie Pierson found the back of the net for her third goal of the season. After forcing a save moments earlier, Pierson capitalized on another opportunity at the 10:19 mark to give Carroll a 1-0 advantage.
Carroll generated seven first-half shots compared to just two for the Titans and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks over the opening 45 minutes. Ava Lewandowski made a key save on UW-Oshkosh's lone shot on goal of the half as the Pioneers carried their one-goal lead into the break.
UW-Oshkosh responded early in the second half, finding the equalizer in the 53rd minute when Jaden LeRoy scored off an assist from Shannon Walsh. The Titans generated increased offensive pressure after the goal, recording eight second-half shots and forcing Lewandowski into several important saves.
The Pioneers continued to create chances of their own, including blocked efforts from Claudia Cramer and Victoria Crivello, while Leonora Loos narrowly missed on an opportunity in the 71st minute. Carroll ultimately finished with an 11-10 advantage in shots and remained organized defensively through the final stretch to preserve the draw.
Lewandowski finished with four saves in the full 90 minutes for Carroll, while Pierson led the Pioneers with two shots on target and the lone goal. Victoria Crivello added two shots, and Carroll received contributions throughout the lineup as 18 different players saw action.
The Pioneers return to action this weekend as conference play continues with a home match against Millikin with kick scheduled for 1pm.
