Ben Versnik

Ben Versnik begins his fifth season as pitching coach of the Carroll University Pioneers.  

Coach Versnik is a native of West Allis, Wis. where he attended Nathan Hale High School.  Following a standout high school career, Versnik took his talents to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the 2009 and 2010 seasons where current Pioneers Head Coach Stein Rear was serving as an assistant.  During his career Versnik played two seasons in the Northwoods League, one of the top summer collegiate wood bat leagues, pitching for the La Crosse Loggers (‘09) and Green Bay Bullfrogs (’10). 

In June of 2010, Versnik was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 38th round of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft.   He spent the 2010 season in Pulaski, Virginia for the organization’s rookie league team.  In 2011, he split time between Everett, Wash. (Low A), Tacoma, Wash. (Triple A) and Clinton, Iowa (Single A).  Following the 2011 season Versnik underwent Tommy John surgery and transitioned into coaching. 

Versnik earned his undergraduate degree from Wisconsin-Whitewater in Health, Human Performance and Recreation with a minor in Health Promotions.
