Michael Cameron enters his second season on the Pioneer men’s basketball coaching staff for the 2022-23 season. Previously, Cameron was the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach for Greenview High School in Central Illinois.
Cameron spent the 2019 season as a Youth Head Basketball Coach for Five Star Sports in Shenzhen, China.
In 2018-19, Cameron was an assistant coach at NCAA DII University of Illinois-Springfield for one season under head coach Bill Walker.
Cameron concluded his playing career in 2018 at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL, where he holds the school record for most assists in a single season. MacMurray won the SLIAC conference championship in 2015-16. Cameron spent his first two seasons at Lincoln Land Community College.
Cameron earned his certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
A native of Springfield, IL, Cameron graduated from Pleasant Plains High School.
Cameron’s father, Cliff, was inducted in the IBCA Hall of Fame in in 2016. He coached Pleasant Plains HS to Class A State Championships in 2000 and 2002.
Cameron earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management in 2018 from MacMurray College. He will obtain his Master of Adult Education from Carroll in 2023.
