The 2025-26 season marks Taylor Jannsen's fourth year on staff at Carroll University and his third full season as the Pios' Head Coach. After taking over as an interim head coach early in the 2022-23 season, Jannsen was hired to take over the men's basketball program full time in the spring of 2023.
During his nearly three full seasons at the helm of the Pioneers, the program has compiled a 30-44 overall record, which is the 14th-most coaching victories in program history. He has coached two All-Conference players during his tenure at Carroll.
In his first full season leading the program in 2023-24, Carroll won 14 games, which marked the highest win total the program has seen since rejoining the CCIW prior to the 2015-16 season. Additionally, the team clinched a traditional CCIW post-season berth for the first time since 2019. He followed that up with a 9-win season in 2024-25. That included wins against the third, fourth, and fifth-place teams in the CCIW standings.
Jannsen began his coaching career after a four-year playing career at Carroll from 2007-11. In his four years as a member of the Carroll University men’s basketball team, Jannsen appeared in 71 total games, averaging 6.4 points and 2.6 assists per game as a Team Captain during his Senior season. After graduating with an Exercise Science degree from Carroll in 2011, Jannsen started PMax Basketball, where he has worked with numerous athletes and teams ranging from youth to the professional ranks. Jannsen has more than 12 years of head coaching experience in some of Wisconsin's top AAU organizations.
Outside of basketball, Coach Jannsen has authored two books and has conducted public speaking engagements for schools, charitable organizations, and both small and large businesses.
Jannsen is originally from nearly Pewaukee, Wis.
