Chris Sherman

Chris Sherman was named Carroll University’s first-ever head men’s lacrosse coach in April of 2014. The Pioneers will begin NCAA Division III competition in the spring of 2015.

"We are excited to bring Chris Sherman to Carroll University," said Joe Baker, Director of Athletics. "He is clearly the right person for this job. The program has to be built from the ground up and I know Chris is going to lay a solid foundation. Not only will he build a successful men's lacrosse program, he will more importantly serve as a tremendous role model for our student-athletes."

Following a standout playing career at Limestone College and then St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C., Sherman became an assistant coach at St. Andrews before heading west to become the head coach of the Snohomish County lacrosse program in the state of Washington.

Two years later Sherman returned to the assistant coach position at St. Andrews before being named head coach for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. In 2013 he moved into an administration position at St. Andrews before deciding to get back into coaching.

His playing and coaching career has been filled with accolades. In October of 2011 Sherman was inducted into Limestone’s Athletic Hall of Fame for his participation on the 2000 NCAA Division II Men’s Lacrosse National Championship team. As a coach he has developed many student-athletes into All-Conference honorees and national leaders in statistical categories.

"I am very excited to join Carroll University and share in the University's vision and plans for the future," said Sherman. "I want to thank Dr. Hastad, Mr. Baker, Mr. [Jim] Wiseman, and everyone at Carroll for this privilege.  It is an honor to be the first coach in the programs history."

Carroll University announced the addition of men's and women's lacrosse in October of 2013.
