Steve Czech is in his fourth year as an Assistant Coach for the Carroll University softball team. During the 2024-25 season, Czech is excited to again be working with the Pitcher & Catchers.
During the summer of 2023, Czech was an Assistant Coach on the Czech Republic National Softball Team, and coached games leading up to the 2023 WBSC Softball World Cup Championships in Europe. Over the summer season, the team faced 8 of the Top 25 teams in the world, including a game vs. Yukiko Ueno and the reigning 2020 Olympic Gold Medal winner, Japan. During his time, Czech helped lead a youth camp for hundreds of Europe Little Leaguers, along with Czech National Team Head Coach Vojtech Albrecht and multiple Olympic Softball Head Coaches, Mike Renney (Canada) and Laing Harrow (Australia).
Czech previously served as a varsity high school Head Coach at nearby Muskego High School (2019-22). During his time, Muskego High School boasted the largest high school softball program in the state of Wisconsin. Czech started as the Head JV coach in 2013, under Head Coach John Rosenberg. Over six years, he led the team to a 104-33 record (71-13 Classic 8 Conference). Czech was chosen as the second-ever Varsity Head Coach in program history in 2018. During this time, Czech racked up 48 wins over 3 seasons (2nd year was lost due to Covid), coached Muskego to multiple Regional Championships, and multiple All-Conference athlete and scholar-athlete selections.
Czech also coached at Eau Claire Memorial High School for three years (2010-12), under Head Coach Brad Chapman. In his first year, he assisted the JV team, the second year he was Varsity Assistant, and the third year he was Head Coach of the Memorial freshman team.
Czech is a graduate of UW-Eau Claire with a BBA in Information Systems, and a graduate of Merrill High School. Czech grew up playing fastpitch softball in Merrill in the NCWC softball league, as well as the Eau Claire Men's Fastpitch League. Czech is a WIAA certified umpire and enjoys umpiring fastpitch around the state.
Czech currently resides in Muskego, Wis. with his wife, son, and two golden retrievers. Czech works in the Muskego-Norway School District, as a Tech Support Specialist.
