Becca Saal announced on Friday, November 18 she would be stepping down as the Had Women's Volleyball Coach. Saal will remain with the program until February 3, 2023, helping to oversee the change in leadership within the program.Â
Becca Saal finished her 13th season as Carroll University’s head volleyball coach in 2022. She is also a part of the Human Performance coaching staff. Having previously served as the head volleyball coach at Ripon College in 2009 and an assistant volleyball coach at Simpson College in 2007-2008.
In 13 years at the helm, Saal’s Pioneer teams have compiled 161 wins, produced 15 All-Conference athletes and 71 Academic All Conference selections. Saal's program has made the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award list for eight seasons in a row. (>3.3 team GPA).
In 2022, Saal helped the Pioneers clinch their first winning season since 2018. Saal and the Pioneers were the #3 team in the CCIW in 2018, qualifying for their first ever CCIW Tournament game.Â
Saal’s first six teams finished 30-17 in Midwest Conference play. In 2013 the team finished 18-12 overall, 8-2 in the Midwest Conference and finished the season as league runner-ups, her best finish thus far. Subsequently the Pioneers qualified for the Midwest Conference Tournament finishing third in 2014 and in 2015.Â
Saal was a standout student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where she was letter-winner in volleyball and basketball. She was twice named first team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and earned All-Midwest Region and AVCA All-American third team honors her final year. She was also named the WIAC Scholar Athlete that year.
The Eau Claire Memorial High School product graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 2005 with a degree in Kinesiology, then went on to earn her master's degree in Sport Administration at Northern Illinois University in 2007.
Coach Saal resides in Waukesha with husband Preston and daughters Ruby and Ezra.
